Vadio Espumante Solera (Perpetuum) is a distinctive sparkling wine from Vadio Wines in Bairrada, Portugal. Made from traditional regional varieties — Bical, Cercial, and Baga — the grapes are hand-harvested and gently whole-cluster pressed. The base wine is partially fermented in barrel and undergoes a unique Solera system started in 2007, blending wines from up to ten different vintages. After blending, it undergoes secondary fermentation in bottle (Traditional Method) and ages a minimum of 18 months on lees before disgorgement.
This sparkling wine shows a deeply complex and elegant profile, marked by notes of dried fruits, candied citrus, subtle toast, and a touch of salinity from the extended aging process. The palate is creamy yet vibrant, with refined bubbles, balanced acidity, and a long, mineral finish. With around 12% alcohol, Vadio Solera is both a gastronomic and contemplative sparkling wine, reflecting time, patience, and the unique identity of Bairrada’s terroir.
