A început în 1798 când Bruno da Silva, un comerciant portughez de la Oporto, a făcut o călătorie care a fost opusul celor primii negustori britanici. Activitatea de transport maritim de port a fost continuată de fiul lui Bruno, John Da Silva, care în 1862 a adus în parteneriat Frederick William Cosens. Odată cu extinderea continuă a firmei, Edward da Silva și Frederick Cosens s-au alăturat lui George Acheson Warre, a cărui familie bine cunoscută a fost implicată în comerțul portuar de la cei mai devreme ani. În 1877, Silva & Cosens au fuzionat cu o altă companie de porturi de lider, Dow & Co.</p> <p>Deși mai mică decât Silva & Cosens, Dow & Co a devenit un producător de port foarte privit, cu o reputație deosebit de bună pentru porturile sale de epocă și când cele două companii au fuzionat, sa decis să adopte Dow ca nume de marcă</p> <p>Timp de peste două secole, numele Dow a fost asociat cu cel mai bun port din podgoriile din Valea Douro superioară. În secolul al XX-lea și în a 21-a, familia Symington a construit pe moștenirea silvei precedente și a familiilor Dow.</p> <p>Finisajul atractiv și distinctiv al lui Dow este semnul distinctiv al vinurilor din această mare casă portuară.</p> <p></p> <p></p>
