The Vale do Nídeo is part of a business project started in 1941 by Hermínio Augusto Abrantes with the acquisition of Quinta do Daniel, located in the village of Pocinho, Vila Nova de Foz Côa, Douro Superior Sub-region, property referenced from the year of 1893.
During three generations, new properties were successively acquired. Currently, Quinta de Azinhate (Vila Nova de Foz Côa), Quinta da Moura (Pinhão), Quinta de Fontellas (Pinhão), Quinta da Vergueira (Pocinho), Quinta da Veiga (Pocinho), a total of about 140 hectares of vineyards. After seventy years of activity dedicated exclusively to the production of grapes destined to the production of Port Wine, the first table wine with its own brand - Valle do Nídeo - Superior - 2001 Red was published in 2003, at the initiative of the winemaker Miguel Arantes, grandson of the founder. Since then, the Nídeo - Branco Valley, the Valle del Nídeo Rosé, and the Valle del Nídeo - Branco Sauvignon and Viosinho have been progressively created.
