The company was founded in 1926 by Mr. Messias Baptista, who served as chairman until 1973. The management is still held by the descendants of MESSIAS family. Since its foundation that MESSIAS has been producing and selling high quality wines from the main demarcated regions: Bairrada, Douro, Dão, Vinho Verde, Beiras and Vinho do Porto. <p>Quinta Nova Nossa Senhora do Carmo estate has 120ha over the Douro river, along 1.5 km on the right bank, in the heart of the Douro (subregion of Cima Corgo). Of these, 85ha are planted with carefully maintained vines, all letter A, framed in the wonderful and unique UNESCO landscape</p>
<p>The nobleness of the grape Gouveio Real, associated to the ground and the microclimate of Douro has given this wine personality and a unique character. We recommend to drink it at a temperature of 10-12ºC</p>
<p>The Quinta do Côtto, in Cidadelhe, relatively close to the Régua, is a property of 75 hectares of vineyard and a plot built in the eighteenth century. The owners of the farm, the Montez Champalimaud family, exclusively produced Port wine until the beginning of the 20th century. In 1980 Miguel Champalimaud launched the first Quinta do Côtto Grande Escolha, consolidating the concept of Douro's quinta wines, which are still rare in the region.<br />The Quinta do Côtto brand has grown greatly in notoriety since then, until it became one of the most classic and prestigious references in the Douro region</p>
